The need for books in these two areas is huge. People are often surprised to learn there are no books on preaching or introductions to the books of the Old or New Testament in Hebrew. The lack of Christian books in Hebrew is chiefly due to the fact that the Modern Hebrew language was resurrected only in late 19th century and really not practiced until 1948 when God brought us back to the land of our fathers. In addition, the church among Jewish people in the land started to grow in a significant way, only in the last few decades. So, it is no wonder that books are needed in these and other areas.

HaGefen continues to publish commentaries. Up to a few years ago there were hardly any commentaries of the sixty-six books of the Bible. We started to publish commentaries with the hope that by 2020 we will have produced one commentary on each of the sixty-six books. These commentaries are helpful to pastors and elders, but also lay people in grasping the deeper meanings of the Word. So far, we have published commentaries on Numbers, Judges, Joel and Amos, Hosea, Obadiah and Micah, and Psalms. In the New Testament, the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John, and from the epistles, Philippines, I and II Thessalonians, and Hebrews, have been completed.

In addition, we have published books on prayer, how to study the Scriptures, church history, and discipleship. Furthermore, we aim to enrich believers in Israel by publishing some classical works. These include Knowing God (J. I. Packer), Sovereignty of God (A. W. Pink), the Heidelberg Catechism and others.  And finally, we publish books that deal with specific issues we as Messianic believers face. These books are mainly written by Jewish believers in the land. Two such books, The Jewish Identity in Christ, and Between the Two Mountains (a teaching on the Ten Commandments and Sermon on the Mount), are written by Baruch Maoz, who was both the founder of the Grace and Truth congregation and the first director of HaGefen Publishing.
