Isaac da Costa was born in Amsterdam in 1798. His father, Daniel da Costa, was a wealthy merchant from a Portuguese Jewish family. Isaac came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his Messiah in 1822.
As a poet, he published two thousand long and short poems and was also famous for Bible lectures. Many of his thoughts from the Bible lectures can be found in this devotional journal. Da Costa had a Biblically-founded hope for the conversion of the Jewish nation. Not only of some individuals but – as Romans 11 verse 26 says – of all Israel.
