There are few people nowadays who show interest in the history of the Christian church. It is commonly held that earlier centuries were completely different compared to the current generation and therefore they can’t relate to the situation of Christians today. This argument is erroneous. Many problems that Christians are struggling with today have been a lot of Christians in the past, though expressed differently.
Most Christians know the history until the death of apostle John, around one hundred AD, and what happened starting from the time of the Reformation in the sixteenth century. The period between these two dates is traditionally regarded as a dark period, but the truth is that this period is very important for understanding Christianity today.
Those who do not learn from history might repeat the mistakes of the past!
