It is hard to imagine a more important subject in the spiritual life of the believer, than his or her prayer life.
It is also hard to think of an area in which more difficulties arise: the tendency to apathy, the difficulty in concentrating, the lack of alertness, a sense of distance from the presence of God.
The author of this book tries to answer all of these needs and to offer aid in overcoming some of the obstacles the praying person meets up against.
Various prayers have been added to the book - by Rabbi Yehuda HaLevi, Rabbi Shlomo Ibn Gvirol, a number of Psalms and prayers from the treasury of Christian prayer throughout the past generations. In addition, an essay on the question of faith in prayer has been added.
The book does not offer a wonder cure. It does not promise any miracles. But it can certainly be a help to those who wish, truly, to learn to pray.
