Catechisms have been used for centuries by the western church as a tool by which to teach the young to remember the important doctrines of the Christian faith. This method of teaching is unfamiliar to the Israeli believers, a large percentage of whom come from secular backgrounds. This book is a translation of a children's catechism, entitled in Hebrew "ask and reply". The questions and answers are simple, and accompanied by several references that the children can look up in order to study the matter further.
This is an excellent tool for parents to use in family devotions or in order to provide simple answers to the questions children ask: Who is God? Why did he create me? What are the ten commandments and what do they mean for me? How did Jesus teach me to pray?
HaGefen's goal is to encourage parents to teach their children and worship regularly as a family. Nothing can strengthen the spiritual lives of the young generation and the family more than consistent, regular family times of Bible teaching and prayer. HaGefen sees this as crucial to the spiritual growth of the church in Israel, and seeks to provide both instruction and materials to young parents who wish to teach their children to love God and the Messiah of Israel.
The book is whimsically illustrated by Diana Shimon, illustator of the Children's Bible.
